He grew up as a little hellion, a terror to his family and a nightmare to his inexperienced parents, who let him do as he pleased, especially since they were nouveau riche, and hard at work.
Yet, he was unlike the archetypal spoiled brat. He was like a little adult from early on, calm and eloquent in his speech, which, had that been the extent of his behavior, would have been celebrated. However, Seiji used this ability for his own vindictive purposes and the like; whenever he was denied something he wanted, like a toy or such, he would simply make an utter fool out of the object of his grudge, revealing things that he somehow had found out about them to others-- essentially, humiliating others. His parents often found themselves thinking that their child would have been better off without such intelligence as they spluttered and stammered to save face.
As he grew, this behavior was only refined, and he became a menace to his enemies-- and a valuable ally to his friends. He learned the workings of the social hierarchy particularly in his high school days, climbing the ladder easily and without much notice, craving the attention and power, even more so after being claimed by the Sohmas as the bearer of the year of the snake.
His first year of college he met Yuki. He had always known he was gay (in fact, the second year of junior high he had simply declared such to his parents; while shocked, they had merely protested and pressed no further when they were threatened by their son), though his sexuality was merely restrained to the throes of lust and hormones.
Yuki was different. Serene, patient, weak-willed Yuki, with his gentle words and soft smile intrigued Seiji, captivated him. He had tried forcing their relationship-- and instead found the limits of the other man's weak-willed patience. Soon, they were embroiled into a fiery, passionate affair, Yuki smoothing out the kinks on Seiji's destructive personality.
But as all things pass, so did their relationship. Seiji discovered what Yuki was hiding from him; an arranged marriage to a rich young heiress. When he confronted his lover, this was passed off as being something that Yuki would reject in favor of Seiji.
Then, it happened; Seiji spotted Yuki with the girl in question, looking very much the part of loving boyfriend-- and something inside of him snapped. When Seiji next went to their shared apartment, he nearly strangled the man he loved, and when he realized what he had done, he broke it off. Simple as that. Or, at least, 'simple' is the way he wanted people to see it. To this day it haunts him that it may have been a misunderstanding.
After leaving college, Seiji was given the reins of one of his father's successful businesses, making him one of the Sohma family's primary providers.
